“William Roberts of Randwick on pranking yanks: ‘The comment about the alteration of the Pichi Richi Pass sign (C8) reminded me of a story my father told when serving in the RAN in the late 1940s. His ship was in a south-east Asian harbour moored near the USS Brinkley Bass. One night a group of sailors paddled across and painted out the Bs in the name on the stern with Pusser’s issue grey paint. Apparently, the Americans were less than impressed but never found out who did the job.’”
