Tails From The Underground:
cats & vodka in the subterranean depths of Warsaw’s Palace Of Culture
[In 1967 the Rolling Stones played the Congress Hall
in Warsaw’s Palace of Culture & Science.]
[…] [They] were rumoured to have been reimbursed for
their performance with vats of Polish vodka. However, when it came to the
crunch, they were forbidden from taking the booze out of the country. For years
after, it’s said that that thousands of litres lay stored in these basements,
with the vodka eventually finding its way back into the homes of the Palace’s
employees and the domestic black market. Though likely to have been heavily
embellished, and possibly even completely invented, its stories such as this
that add to the mystique and the magic of the Palace’s basements.

a participant in a sex scenario – is often dismissed as an urban myth. But
Sarah learned the horrifying truth. […]

Survey findings from long-rumored section of Brigham
City cemetery to be presented at railroad exhibit
BRIGHAM CITY —
Contrary to a long-held urban legend, there probably isn’t a mass grave of
Chinese railroad workers buried in a small section of the Brigham City
Cemetery. […] Museum Director and Curator Kaia Michaelis said there are several
historical facts that contradict the legend. Michaelis said many of the Chinese
railroad workers had contracts with Central Pacific that stipulated their
bodies would be returned to China if they died. Michaelis said often times
workers who died were initially buried near where they died, but later exhumed
and put on a train to San Francisco, then shipped back to China. […]
