Detroit handyman harassed by
people who think he’s involved in human trafficking because of white van
DETROIT – A home improvement specialist who has been
harassed because of the van he drives wants people to know he is not involved
with human trafficking. Marcel Jackson said the harassment started after a
video of a woman claiming she saw a young girl being forced into the back of a
van at a Detroit gas station went viral on Facebook. “A lot of people have been
following me, trying to pull me over, trying to look inside the van and stuff,”
Jackson said. “It’s not me. It’s not me with the sex trafficking." […]

vans is spreading fear across America

propelled by Facebook's algorithms have sparked fears that men driving white
vans are kidnapping women all across the United States for sex trafficking and
to sell their body parts. While there is no evidence to suggest this is
happening, much less on a national, coordinated scale, a series of viral
Facebook (FB) posts created a domino effect that led to the mayor of a major

TAGBILARAN CITY—Police in Bohol province sought to
ease fears about supposedly a spate of abductions of children for their
internal organs that has fuelled paranoia among parents and which started in
