The Bible’s 23rd psalm (“The Lord is my
shepherd; I shall not want…”) has been much parodied, including versions
adapted to the various military services. In the second item below, a certain
word (crutch) doesn’t survive the copying
process.
A Four-Year Bummer (Chanute Air Force Base, Champaign, IL),
vol. 2, no. 6, August 1970, p. 9. “The Air Force is my crutch, I shall not
think.” [“Reprinted from The Overseas Weekly.”]
Semper Fi (Marine Corps Air Station, Iwakuni,
Japan), vol. 2, no. 12, 30 August 1971, p. 19. “The Marine Corps is my crotch.”
