“For the Man of Class
– Custom-Built Rattle.” The Charleston (GA) Gazette, 13 April 1973. Frank E.
Bird of Macon, Ga., said mechanics practically dismantled a $14,500 car looking
for a rattle and finally discovered a ball bearing in a door panel. The bearing
was wrapped in a note that read: “Well, you finally found it, didn’t you, you
rich-so-and-so.”
