The Kogi State government has denied the rumours
making the round that the state government has embarked on spiritual cleansing
by destroying all roundabouts in Lokoja, the state capital. It said the move
was meant for the beautification of the state capital insisting that it was not
true as it was aimed at beautifying the capital city. Rumour about the
spiritual cleansing exercise had earlier gained ground when the Lugard
Roundabout in front of the Government House was removed overnight with Lugard
statue, following the first hand information that charms, human heads were
buried in all roundabouts in Lokoja and the governor ordered for destruction
for spiritual reasons. […]

that the PDP state government of former governor Captain Idris Ichalla Wada had
buried amulets, human parts and other juju items supplied to it by powerful
witchdoctors at strategic corners and roundabouts around the capital city. The
alleged purpose was to help Captain Wada win last December’s governorship
election. That Wada was soundly defeated at the polls did not, in many
citizens’ minds, prove the lack of efficacy of the buried amulets. […]

Apparently worried by the recent happenings in Kogi
state, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and Audu/ Faleke group have berated
Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State over the demolition of roundabouts in
Lokoja, the state capital over assertion of voodoo power planted under them by
past administrations. The State Publicity Secretary of PDP, Mr. Bode Ogunmola
condemned the demolition exercise yesterday in Lokoja while briefing newsmen on
Bello’s first 30 days in office and accused the governor of running a voodoo
