The Algerian Ministry of Defence is thought to be behind a warning against purchasing and wearing a deadly perfume. […]

The document claimed to be issued by the Algerian Ministry of Defence that dates back to 17 August and was posted by the Regional Directorate of the Military Health, which is affiliated with the first military district. It suggests that “available information suggests that the perfume is a poisonous substance with a delayed effect that appears after 3 or 4 days of spraying it on the body, resulting in sudden death.”

The document also unveiled that the “toxic perfume has been discovered in Arab and Islamic countries such as Iraq, Egypt, Bahrain, Sudan, and Kuwait”. […]

Two different e-mail messages are making the rounds in Jefferson Parish from residents -- one from those who say they were afraid for their safety during encounters with suspicious perfume peddlers and another warning of free key rings with built-in global positioning systems.

Police in Hull have reassured the public after an urban myth has surfaced about a new burglary method which involves perfume sellers.

Reports have being circulated on mobile phone messages that would-be thieves are knocking on doors in the area with perfume samples.

When the samples are smelt, a person is knocked unconscious and the thief is then free to burgle the property. [...]

Killer perfume rumors raise fears in the UAE

Abu Dhabi police sought to play down fears among consumers on Monday that a killer perfume was on the loose after a rumor was spread by text message to mobile phones.

The text messages claimed that in four days 18 people had died after using the unnamed perfume and that another 35 had been admitted to intensive care in hospitals in Abu Dhabi. Perfume spraying leads to arrest

HOUMA -- A woman who police say sprayed cologne on at least local two men, leaving them feeling ill and light-headed, has been arrested.

Patches Wegmann, 22, 1449 Spanish Oaks Drive in Harvey, is charged with simple battery and unlawful solicitation. [...]

The incident remains under investigation, and authorities say it’s not clear that anything other than perfume was sprayed on either man. [...]

Hoax e-mail causes panic

AN e-mail circulating like wildfire in cyberspace, purportedly from Gleneagles Hospital in Ampang, has panicked FOO of Bukit Antarabangsa.

The businessman from Taman Bukit Utama wondered if the e-mail, which states: ‘News from Ampang Gleneagles Hospital. Important news to pass it on’, authored by one Mei Ling of Gleneagles Hospital Limited’s Human Resource Department is true.

The 48-year-old FOO says that the e-mail had the headline: ‘News from Gleneagles Hospital (Ampang) URGENT!!!!! from Gleneagles Hospital Limited’, which tells of the death of seven women from inhaling free perfume samples. [...]
